Can you believe it? The first month of summer is fast coming to an end, but here at the Ontonagon Theater of Performing Arts we’re just warming up!
We’ll see June out with an exciting double-feature concert the night of Friday, June 30th. Local musician Eric Hopper will kick off the night by thrilling theatergoers with his solo act. Who can say what variety of instruments and styles this multi-talented crooner will bust out? There’s only one way to find out! Later, Hopper will take the stage as part of local four-piece folk band The Saucy Rovers. The Rovers allege to play a variety of Irish tavern music and sea shanties, but they have a rather untrustworthy look about them so who can really say? Their debut album Treasure Sickness is available now on Amazon, iTunes, and Spotify, and they have been featured on The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast.
After the holiday, we’ll come back with a 4th-of-July-sized bang on Friday, July 7th with the Chicago-based duo Small Potatoes. The musical team of Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso have a folk-style repertoire that they describe as ranging from “Celtic to Cowboy.”
On July 15th, Friends of the Porkies will take over the theater to bring us their Lake Superior Days program. Come celebrate The Big Lake with a night full of music and fun.
July 28th is also slated for a showcase of local talent. More details will be released as they become available.
